Hailing originally from Trinidad, Steve Hansil arrived in the US in 1963 with his mother. His grew experienced as a chef in Florida and New Jersey shore area restaurants. It was a broker who found this location for Steve Hansil, whose specifications stressed a country ambience. Steve’s goal is to bring a feeling of Trinidad into a rural New Jersey setting. And that’s exactly what he’s done.
Steve, an Indian by birth, and his wife, Miriam, a native of Puerto Rico, have managed to blend their two traditions and spices together for a unique, unforgettable taste.
Some of Hansil's most popular dishes (all of which can be found on our (MENU PAGE) are the tender and flavorful beef curry, served with rice, the shrimp scampi, which may be ordered with rice or linguini, and the curries, also offered with chicken and shrimp as well as beef.
Hansil's makes their own Jamaican punch, which goes great with any of our Caribbean specialty dishes. And what would a roadside bar be without burgers. Steve adds a good variety of burgers and several variations of hot dogs as well as finger foods like zucchini sticks, chicken fingers, jerk fingers, buffalo wings, jerk buffalo wings and Caribbean beef pies.
